Bhob Rainey on Soundcloud
A bit late to the party as usual (lucky for me it’s still happening). Bhob Rainey has been uploading some very interesting live recordings of solo (and other) improvisations on Soundcloud.
I’m personally very interested in the tensions and difficulties inherent in modern solo improvisation, and for me, ground zero is definitely solo wind instrument improvisation. I probably don’t have to say why, but with all of the possible issues solo improvisors face, most improvisors don’t also have to perform utilizing a physical activity that is also actively keeping them alive.
This stuff isn’t easy. And Bhob’s playing on these selected improvisations, is top notch. Really enjoying these right now, ‘Nuff said.
